To celebrate the Blu-ray and DVD release of John Cusack's The Raven, The Fan Carpet are giving you the chance to win a copy of the Saw-esque thriller on DVD.
Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin), this suspenseful horror sees Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) join forces with young Baltimore detective, Emmet Fields (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a serial killer. Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey) also join the cast to help solve the string of violent killings.
When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, detective Emmett Fields makes a startling discovery. The crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper as part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. As Fields recognises elements of the crime from Poe’s story The Murders in the Rue Morgue, he becomes convinced there is a link and so recruits Poe himself to help with the investigation.
As another gruesome murder occurs, which is also inspired by a popular Poe story, Poe soon realises his work is being used as inspiration for the brutal killings. His love, Emily (Alice Eve, Sex and the City 2, She’s Out Of My League) soon becomes a target which calls for the inventor of the detective story to use his own powers of deduction to try and solve the case. It’s a race against time to save her life... will he be too late?
