An award-winning English actress best-known for co-starring in the 2004 movie Shaun of the Dead.
Ashfield was born in Birmingham, and attended King Edward VI Five Ways (being part of the first female intake into the sixth form in 1988 prior to the school being opened up completely to girls in 1998). Ashfield appeared in As You Like It and was involved in a number of local youth theatre groups. She trained at Rose Bruford College.
She has since appeared in many film, television and theatre productions. Her first movie role came in 1994 as Ella in John Wells’ film Princess Caraboo.
She has performed in numerous plays associated with the In-yer-face theatre movement, and was invited to speak on the subject at the University of the West of England’s 2002 Theatre’s Shock Therapy conference.
