Inspired by true events, Breach starring Ryan Phillppe, Chris Cooper and Laura Linney, is a dramatic thriller set inside the halls of the Federal Bureau of Investigation that serves as the gatekeeper to the most sensitive and volatile secrets of the USA.

In February 2001, renowned FBI operative Robert Hanssen was found guilty of treason against America.  Over a period of more than two decades, Hanssen systematically and deliberately sold his country’s key intelligence to the former Soviet Union. Academy Award® winner CHRIS COOPER (American Beauty, Adaptation) stars as Hanssen, one of the most notorious spies in the history of America.

RYAN PHILLIPPE (Crash, Flags of Our Fathers) joins Cooper, starring as Eric O’Neill, the young agent-in-training handpicked by the FBI to help draw Hanssen from his cover.

I had the opportunity to see the film and engage in a Q&A with Billy Ray, Chris Cooper and Ryan Phillippe. I went to see a preview of this film last night and I will say that I enjoyed it very much, although it did drag somewhat in spots. The acting especially by Chris Cooper was very good as the central figure in this spy thriller. The rest of the cast was adequate for their portrayals. This is a fascinatingg story of Robert Hannsen the spy who rivaled all other spies by handing the Russians the largest quantity of United States secrets.

There's not a lot of action in this film but it held your interest throughout the film, because it is based on a true story (even though the writers enhanced the story slighty). The Q&A revealed Billy Ray as a man who is so skilled at his craft and so methodical and strategic yet at the same time plagued by unnecessary insecurity. This is a thriller for the intelictuals.
