Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. Alex (Ben Stiller), Marty (Chris Rock), Melman (David Schwimmer) and Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith) hatch their latest plan to get back to New York by joining up with a travelling circus.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted brings us back to the characters we all know and love - Alex (Ben Stiller), Marty (Chris Rock), Gloria (Jada Pinkett-Smith) and Melman (David Schwimmer), on a rather similar quest to the previous films; to get back to New York.
At least that's the premise on paper, what we witness is not just a rehash of the same plot, instead for 93 minutes we are treated to a visual feast of bright, vivacious colours, as well as a somewhat funnier film - it's Madagascar but to the nth degree. With plenty of thrills to amuse and engage the child in all of us, Madagascar 3 certainly isn't "just another sequel".
The new members of the cast are headed up by the magnificent Frances McDormand as the villainous Animal Control agent - Captain Chantel DuBois, I simply loved her performance as the seemingly indestructible agent, also notably Jessica Chastain and Bryan Cranston as the Circus entertainers was perfect casting.
As previously mentioned, it is a visual treat, and this becomes apparent fairly early on when Alex and the gang con their way onto the Circus train in order to evade capture from the persistent Animal Control Agent.
While I love the Madagascar franchise and would hate to see it come to an end, this certainly does feel like the end of a trilogy. However, I definitely wouldn't be averse to seeing these characters together on screen again; but, of course, only if done right. Perhaps the filmmakers can take a leaf out of Pixar's book and release shorts ala Toy Story simply to feed our hunger for more of this wonderful franchise. Who knows what's in store.
