While grieving for her dead husband, Prince Albert, Queen Victoria falls under the healthy influence of John Brown, the unapologetically brash Scottish manservant who oversees the royal retreat at Balmoral. When the two become close friends--and perhaps even physical intimates--the royal family and the nation reel from the scandal.
