Richard Dunn (Jeff Daniels), a washed-up writer, forms a friendship with a young teenage girl named Abby (Emma Stone). This bothers his wife Claire (Lisa Kudrow) and his imaginary superhero friend Captain Excellent (Ryan Reynolds).
