Bruce Willis is one of Hollywood’s most recognised and acclaimed actors. He has played everything from a (spoiler alert!) ‘dead person’ in The Sixth Sense, to prize-fighter Butch Coolidge in Pulp Fiction, a heroic New York cop in the Die Hard franchise, and even a cab driver thrown into chaos in The Fifth Element.

Now he takes the screen as the quirky sheriff in Wes Anderson’s highly anticipated Moonrise Kingdom

To celebrate todays release of the film, we take a look back at some of his most memorable roles...

DIE HARD (1988)

The famous New York City Detective John McClane played by the iconic Bruce Willis in action film Die Hard is said to be one of his all-time best film performances. Travelling to Los Angeles, John McClane finds himself involved in a hostage situation.

Bruce Willis plays the role of a prize-fighter ‘Butch Coolidge’ in the well-known thriller Pulp Fiction. Along with iconic stars including John Travolta as ‘Vincent Vega’, Samuel L Jackson ‘Jules Winnfield’ and Uma Thurman as ‘Mia Wallace’, it tells the story of two hit men, a boxer and a gangster’s wife, whose lives are woven together. Aging boxer, Butch Coolidge gets paid by mob boss Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames) to lose his next fight.

Director Luc Besson takes the Action Sci-Fi, The Fifth Element two hundred and fifty years ahead in the future, which is threatened by the arrival of the Evil. Bruce Willis who plays a former elite commando turned cab driver, Korben Dallas, assists the Fight Element in stopping the Evil from extinguishing life.

One of Bruce Willis’s most memorable characters was the role of a ‘dead person’ which was played all along the Night Shyamalan’s thriller, The Sixth Sense.  Telling the story of a boy who communicates with the spiritual world, Bruce Willis plays Dr. Malcom Crowe, a child psychologist who takes on the task of curing the young boy.

Now taking on the role as a quirky sheriff in Wes Anderson’s MOONRISE KINGDOM, Captain Sharp (Bruce Willis) attempts to find a pair of teenage lovers who flee New England town.
