The Amazing Spider-Man swings into London for the star studded premiere

June 19 2012

Last night London's Leicester Square played host to the premiere of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man as Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone took to the red carpet with Rhys Ifans as well as Matt Tolmach, Avi Arad and Webb himself.

Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held…a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard Webb said of Garfield "He was so committed to the physical dimension of the character, like he really was focused on feeling like a spider was taking over him and keeping that DNA alive and every time I would see him, his elbow would be moving a certain way and he was embodying the, like he really was, it felt like he was being taken over by a spider - and when he got in the suit it really paid a lot of dividends."

While Garfield said of method acting "I don't know what that word means, but I definitely was dedicated to it and wanted to make sure that we did our job as well as possible and made sure that the character is served in the way that it should be."

The gorgeous Emma Stone said Garfield's love of the superhero since he was three makes "his dedication and protection of the character totally apparent throughout the movie".

The Amazing Spider-Man swings into cinemas on July 3 and also features Martin Sheen, C. Thomas Howell, Sally Field, Embeth Davidtz, Denis Leary and Campbell Scott.
