Kevin Feige says there are plans for Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
September 22 2012
While it was confirmed that Thanos will appear in the sequel to Avengers Assemble and Guardians of the Galaxy, word is that the role may be re cast according to Marvel Universe producer Kevin Feige.
Speaking to Collider, Feige said "There's a great track record now about lobbing something in at the last moment to get the audience buzzing.
Particularly when it came to Thanos, we knew that most people in that audience had no idea who that purple guy was - but they could clearly tell he was important, and knew if they asked the two or three people sitting next to them, somebody would know who he was.
Clearly, there's a purpose to us putting him in the end of that movie. We do have plans for him. I wouldn't say we ever feel the need to rush anything one way or the other."
Speaking about Damion Poitier who took on the role for the end credits scene of Avengers Assemble, Feige added that he is unlikely return to the role of the Mad Titan revealing to MTV News "I think we feel pretty free to recast. That was cast for literally that one shot. Depending on what role requires from future movies, we'll go from there."
Avengers Assemble is out now on Blu-ray and DVD and work is underway on the next phase of the Avengers Initiative with Iron Man 3 kicking it off when it hits cinemas next April.
