Patrick Stewart hints at X-Men francise return

September 26 2012

British acting legend Sir Patrick Stewart best known for his role Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the long running Star Trek franchise has hinted that he will return as Professor X in the X-Men franchise.

Speaking to Newsarama during a Q&A session at the 2012 Montreal Comic Convention the actor who has starred as Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men trilogy and had a cameo in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin off said "I think there is every possibility."

And after he began to enthusiastically list his female co-stars in the trilogy he added "Yes, I'll be reprising..."

His son Daniel chimed in listing his male co-stars in the franchise.

Most recently the role of Professor Charles Xavier was played by James McAvoy in Fox's X-Men: First Class, and the future of the X-Men franchise looks good with the announcement that the follow-up will be based on the famous comics storyline; X-Men: Days of Future Past.

With the time travel element used in X-Men: Days of Future Past it could mean that both Stewart and McAvoy could play the character.

Stewart was last heard as the narrator in Seth MacFarlane's Ted and returns to cinemas with A Good Day to Die Hard on February 14 and is currently filming Reshef Levy's Hunting Elephants.
