Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield sign to The Amazing Spider-Man sequel

September 29 2012

Following all the rumoured back and forth it has emerged that both Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield will return for the announced sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.

No brainer right! The statement issued yesterday by Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad said "We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker.

We can't wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide."

And while Emma Stone is still in talks to return as Gwen Stacy, he previous comments suggest that it is only a matter of time before she signs on the dotted line.

Transformers and Star Trek writing duo Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are currently penning the sequel with Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, who penned the first instalment to the rebooted franchise.

The Amazing Spider-Man was named the highest-grossing reboot of all time back in August when it took $700 million (£442m) worldwide. The sequel is set to hit screens on May 2 2014 and is expected to start production in early 2013.
