Oscar winner Natalie Portman wanted for Jackie
September 29 2012
While she's currently filming her role of Jane Foster in Alan Taylor's Thor: The Dark World, it has emerged that Oscar winner Natalie Portman has been linked to take on the role of Jackie Kennedy in Noah Oppenheim's drama Jackie.
Deadline report that Portman is being courted by Fox Searchlight to portray the late First Lady in the film that follows Jackie after her husband and US president John F Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.
Portman is said to like what she has read in the script for Jackie, but will wait to find out the director before taking it on.
Darren Aronofsky was previously attached to the project with Rachel Weisz set to star as Jackie, however following their split, the pair departed the project. However that doesn't spell doom for the project, since back in 2010 iconic filmmaker Steven Spielberg who is currently putting the finishing touches onto his Lincoln biopic was said to be interested.
The aforementioned Thor: The Dark World is set to hit cinemas on November 8, with Chris Hemsworth returning as the titular Thunder God.
