Arnold Schwarzenegger will return as Conan in The Legend of Conan

October 25 2012

While the Jason Momoa remake of Conan the Barbarian was met with luke warm responses, it seems that the original Conan is set to return to the role with Deadline reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to reprise the role for The Legend of Conan for Universal Pictures.

Schwarzenegger played Robert E. Howard's Cimmerian warrior in the early 80's in Conan the Barbarian and its sequel Conan the Destroyer, and while details of the plot are few, producer Frederik Malmberg tells the site “The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make.

It’s that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life. He knows he’ll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle.”

Since he left office, Schwarzenegger has been seen on the big screen in the high octane epic sequel The Expendables 2 and will re-team with Sylvester Stallone in next year's actioner The Tomb.

He will next be seen with Thor: The Dark World star Jaimie Alexander in The Last Stand on January 25.
