"For all its positives, something big happens towards the end that's rather predictable"

“When their father passes away, four grown siblings are forced to return to their childhood home and live under the same roof together for a week, along with their over-sharing mother and an assortment of spouses, exes and might-have-beens.”

So I heard about a new film coming out called 'This Is Where I Leave You'. I watched the trailer and thought it looked excellent and, fortunately, I got the opportunity to view it, and was amazed; I love how often it was able to shift its tone from serious to funny.

It starts off with a sad moment; this event is brought up throughout the movie, but in an amusing way. Everything links together nicely, which is one of its strengths. The way all the different characters connect in some way is pleasing: they'd either slept together in high school, bonded through mutual friends, or were related.

For all its positives, something big happens towards the end that's rather predictable; I could see coming a mile off. However, I won't spoil it, but it's definitely a shocking conclusion. I do, however, believe this element is needed, though.

My favourite character was the young boy. There was so much drama going on in the house concerning the adults, yet he was just getting on with life. Also, another favourite was Judd Altman, played by Jason Bateman, who did an excellent job portraying his character.
