Actress and model, Turkel studied at the Musical Theatre Academy.
She was photographed for American Vogue. Patrick Lichfield captured images of her on location in England, the Bahamas and Sardinia during the early seventies and included them in his 1981 book The Most Beautiful Women.
She has starred in television film, her first major role occurring in the 1974 film 99 and 44/100% Dead, alongside her future husband Richard Harris; they later married and were divorced in 1982.
