Date of Birth : Mar 11th 1964

She was born in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex. Chambers went to school at St. Mary’s (now Hill House School, Doncaster) before training at the Webber Douglas Academy in the 1980s, where she was a classmate of actor Ross Kemp. She currently lives with husband and fellow actor Ian M Dunn in Lymington, Hampshire.

After taking some smaller parts on television, such as The Bill, in November 1994 Emma took on the role of Charity Pecksmith in the TV serialisation of the Dickens novel Martin Chuzzlewit. But she is, of course, best known for playing Alice Tinker in The Vicar of Dibley a BBC comedy classic, starring Dawn French, which was first broadcast in the same month as Martin Chuzzlewit. She appeared in all 20 episodes and in the 4 shorts, charming the nation with her loving portrayal of the cookey and simple Alice, as she discovers her love for and eventually marries the equally simple Hugo Horton, played by James Fleet. In 1998 Emma won the British Comedy Award for Best Actress in recognition of her exceptionally funny performances and natural comedic talent. Her last outing as Alice was the Comic Relief Special in March 2007.
