He started as a model for Esquire, then moved into presenting starting with The Pop Factory Awards and 99 Things To Do Before You Die. Jones has since become a regular feature on Channel 4’s weekend entertainment programme T4. In 2006 he worked on Transmission with T-Mobile with Xfm DJ Lauren Laverne.
He has become the focus of tabloid coverage and gained a reputation as an avid womaniser, renowned for his links with high-profile celebrity women.[citation needed] He dated Fearne Cotton in 2008.
Jones has been linked with The Pop Factory co-host and ex-model Liz Fuller, as well as actresses Halle Berry, Pamela Anderson, Natalie Imbruglia, Paris Hilton, Angelina Jolie, Mariah Carey and more recently, Fearne Cotton, although the majority of these links appear to be fictitious and fabricated by the tabloid press[citation needed] He also had a two year relationship with singer Gypsy McKee which ended in 2007 after she suffered a miscarriage. Steve said in an interview she was the first woman he ever truly loved. T4 co-presenter June Sarpong has described him as a “serial snogger”. Steve also has a role in the film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and is considering more acting roles.
He has also had a minor role in the British series Plus One, playing himself in two episodes.
In February 2009 he made his BBC One debut hosting Let’s Dance for Comic Relief with Claudia Winkleman.
