13 Hours filmmaker Michael Bay confirmed to Direct Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 5

05 January 2016

With a fifth entry in the mammoth franchise Transformers coming to Cinemas in 2017, it has been reported that Michael Bay will return to the Director’s chair for the last time.

Talking to Rolling Stone whilst promoting his new film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, The Wrap report Bay saying “I still have a great time. It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else, it’s time to move on. One more.”

Bay will direct Transformers 5 from a script from the writing trio of Black Hawk Down scribe Ken Nolan and Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

The story for Transformers 5 came out of a writer’s room set up at Paramount Pictures overseen by Oscar winning filmmaker Akiva Goldsman, that is expected to expand the Transformers universe.

Daddy’s Home star Mark Wahlberg is set to return to his role of Cade Yeager from Transformers: Age of Extinction and Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Executive Producer Steven Spielberg are also set to return.
