#1 Memento

We’ll start off with a classic, the 2000 Memento starring Guy Pearce along with Joe Pantoliano and Carrie-Anne Moss. If you’re in the mood for a good thriller, this is the perfect one for your solo night.

The movie follows the story of a man determined to find justice after losing a loved one. You can already tell this film is packed with action and suspense. Not to mention that it was directed by Christopher Nolan. It has to be good!

#2 Gone Girl

If you’re worried that watching a movie alone will be boring, you just haven’t found the right movie. With that said, Gone Girl is a title that’s going to keep your eyes glued to the screen for the entire duration of the film.

This action-packed thriller is so twisted that it will blow your mind by the time you get to the final scene. We don’t want to reveal too much - it’s enough to say that the movie follows the story of a woman who mysteriously leaves her home, and the police blames the poor husband right away. Keep in mind that this one requires you to be fully concentrated!

#3 A Clockwork Orange

Speaking of twisted movies, here’s one that will shake you up completely. This is by far one of the most interesting plots on our list and beyond. A Clockwork Orange follows a story of a criminal who volunteers for experimental therapy led by the government in hopes of reducing his sentence.

The whole thing goes completely wrong and leads to so many twists and turns that will keep you at the edge of your seat the entire time. By the end of the movie, you will be questioning yourself and whether you’d risk being a part of an experiment just to reduce a prison sentence.

#4 Get Out

If you thought meeting your partner’s parents was a scary experience, you haven’t seen what it can do to a person. In this movie (which, by the way, won an Oscar nomination), a guy named Chris goes to meet his girlfriend’s parents, but he ends up going through the wildest experience of his life.

You wouldn’t believe what they did to this poor guy. If you’re into messed-up movie plots, this is definitely one worth watching. Although it’s classified as a horror movie, Get Out is not as scary as some of the best horror films out there (remember you want to watch it alone, so this is a good thing).

#5 Midsommar

If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t mind watching horror movies completely on their own, then this is the one for you. Midsommar follows the story of a couple who travels to Sweden to the popular Midsommar festival.

Little did they know that the festival is organized by a pagan cult who practices violent rituals and does all sorts of crazy things. The couple ends up traumatized by what was supposed to be their peaceful vacation.

#6 Forgotten

We decided to throw in some diversity and include a Korean movie on the list because - why not? This is another scary movie that will give you the full experience if you decide to watch it alone.

It follows a young man whose brother was abducted and later returned to the family without any memory of the past 19 years of his life. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?

#7 The Girl on the Train

We’ll end the list with something less scary and less stressful compared to the previous two movies. The Girl on the Train is a great drama that tells the story of a woman who spies on a happy couple during her daily train ride.

However, the woman she was spying on suddenly goes missing, revealing a series of strange events that will keep you at the edge of your seat. If you’re into a good mix between a mystery drama and a thriller, this is a great option to consider!
