Aaron Johnson NOT Cyclops in ‘X-Men: First Class’

05 August 2010

Even since Matthew Vaughn signed on the dotted line to direct 'X-Men: First Class', speculation has been rife as to who would be his Scott Summers (aka Cyclops). The natural choice to many has been Aaron Johnson, Matthew Vaughn's hero from 'Kick-Ass', however producer Tarquin Pack has said not to believe everything we read and said "Aaron's kind of busy."

Pack also claims that there are no big casting surprises being planned, and said "Nothing you don't know about." Which is a little bit strange considering that there hasn't been an official announcement to who is Cyclops, let alone Jean Grey, only time will tell on the casting of the two heros.

Pack also commented on the tone of the film he said "I think the first two (X-Men and X2: X-Men United) are the closest to the sort of movie we want to make. This isn’t going to be a Kick-Ass version of X-Men."

In contrast, director Matthew Vaughn said "J.J. Abrams made a fantastically exciting reinvention of that world, with those great characters. And I think there will be comparisons a little bit with ‘X-Men: First Class.” It’s very similar, in a way. But we’re doing some cool stuff in this movie, some really cool stuff that you haven’t seen before."

Whatever the case, hopefully it will all be made clear when production stills start to pop up for the film.
