British acting legend Sir Anthony Hopkins has added more gravitas to the already impressive cast of Darren Aronofsky's Noah joining the likes of Russell Crowe and Emma Watson.

Taking to Twitter, the Black Swan director revealed that Hopkins would take on the role of Methuselah, the oldest person mentioned in the Hebrew Bible writing "i'm honoured to be working with the great sir anthony hopkins. we just added him to the stellar cast of Noah.

#methuselahlives (sic)."

While Crowe, who takes on the title role in the biblical story about the building of an ark to save humanity from a divine flood wrote on Twitter "My kids are flipping out that I'm going to work with Hermione" referring to the casting of Watson.

Noah is set to begin shooting later this month and is expected in cinemas in March 2014 with Jennifer Connelly as Noah's wife Naameh, Logan Lerman as Ham and Ray Winstone who is rumoured to be the villain of the story.

Hopkins has Sacha Gervasi's Alfred Hitchcock biopic in post production and will next be seen in the BFI London Film Festival favourite 360 from director Fernando Meirelles and writer Peter Morgan on August 10 alongside Rachel Weisz and Jude Law.
