Aleksandr and Sergei get immersed into the SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING world with MEERKAT MOVIES ad set in the MCU

Ahead of the highly-anticipated Sony Pictures Releasing UK summer blockbuster, Spider-Man™: Homecoming, has launched a new multi-million pound, above the line campaign featuring Aleksandr and Sergei.

Following the successes of previous film partnerships including Batman V Superman and Star Wars, has teamed up with Sony Pictures Releasing UK on a 30” advert, launching on the 4th July 2017.

The new advert for Spider-Man™: Homecoming is supported by a 360-marketing campaign, working with lead agencies VCCP Blue and VCCP Me, and is the first-time audiences will see meerkats, Aleksandr and Sergei, immersed into the film’s world, with the ad set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The TVC was directed by Dave Scanlon and produced by Steven Riley and Patrick Duguid at Passion Pictures, with additional visual effects executed by Method Studios, who also worked on the Spider-Man™: Homecoming film. The advert, also supported by MEC, will be promoted via TV, VOD, radio, cinema and social video.



The advert opens on Spider-Man swooping down from the sky and landing in a New York back ally. Quickly packing away his suit into a rucksack, we now see Peter Parker stopping at a café, with Aleksandr and Sergei at the table behind. As the meerkats pack up to continue their sightseeing, Sergei accidently picks up Peter Parker’s rucksack instead of his own. Upon finding the Spider-Man outfit within the bag, Sergei playfully takes on the persona of the famous superhero, clambering up lamp posts and fighting the evil creatures of New York; the pesky pigeon. Before he knows it his ‘imaginary webs’ have actually fired, seeing Sergei shoot off into the distance. The ad ends with Peter Parker waiting to cross the road, with Sergei stuck to the side of a bus tangled in a web.
