Amber Heard reported to be in negotiations to join DCCU as Mera in Justice League and Aquaman
With DC Entertainment/ Warner Bros. moving full steam ahead on their Cinematic Universe it has been reported that Amber Heard is in negotiations to join the DCCU as Mera!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, if a deal is met, Heard will debut as Mera in Justice League and then she will star alongside Jason Momoa in James Wan’s Aquaman as the female lead.
In DC Comics lore Mera is the love interest of Aquaman and eventual queen of Atlantis. Mera first appeared in 1963 and the character has the power to control and even solidify water.
Word is that there are two scripts being worked on; one of which is being written by David Leslie Johnson, who is Wan’s writer on The Conjuring 2 and the other is being written by Kurt Johnstad, who wrote 300 with Justice League and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Director Zack Snyder.
Justice League is due to start shooting in April and is set for release on November 17 next year with Aquaman set for release eight months later on July 27 2018.
Heard can currently be seen in the Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander biopic The Danish Girl, she also has Mathew Cullen’s adaptation of Martin Amis’ novel London Fields ready for release.
