Andrea Riseborough Nabs the Lead Role alongside Demián Bichir in the Sam Raimi Produced Reimagining of THE GRUDGE
With a reimagining of The Grudge coming to Cinemas, it has bee announced that sought after Actress Andrea Riseborough has nabbed the lead role in the Sam Raimi Produced ghost story!
A reboot to The Grudge has been in the works for close to four years at this stage, and Producer Sam Raimi said in a statement ”We are so excited about this new adaptation.
We went back to the original source material to deliver a relentless supernatural thrill ride that explores the horrors of American suburbia."
BAFTA TV Award nominee Riseborough recently gave a tour-de-force performance in the bleak Black Mirror episode Crocodile, in which she played an architect driven to a series of increasingly brutal murders.
She was recently seen on the big screen as Svetlana in Armando Iannucci’s The Death of Stalin and she is known for memorable roles in Oblivion opposite Tom Cruise, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) opposite Michael Keaton, Battle of the Sexes opposite Emma Stone and played former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the acclaimed TV movie The Long Walk to Finchley.
The Grudge will also star Mexican-American actor Demián Bichir, whose most notable credits include Alien: Covenant and will make a foray into Horror with the Conjuring spin-off film The Nun.
With the lead roles filled, Director Nicolas Pesce is aiming to begin production in May.
