Andrew Garfield overwhelmed by slipping into Spider-Man Suit

09 January 2011

The Social Network seems to be an unstoppable juggernaut having already been named Best Picture by over seventeen separate critics groups including New York Critics Circle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, and the National Board of Review.

The Facebook film has also seen awards for David Fincher for Best Director and Best Actor for Jesse Eisenberg. And while it's one of the most talked about films of recent years, attention is on Andrew Garfield who will next be seen in the BFI London Film Festival opener Never Let Me Go on February 11 as Tommy alongside Oscar nominees Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan.

He will also suit up in the red and blue to play Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in the currently filming Marc Webb directed reboot. In a recent interview, he admitted to feeling overwhelmed and shed a tear when he first slipped into the iconic superhero suit.

He said "Spider-Man was my favourite superhero. I guess I found him easy to relate to. His struggle was profound, and I understood it. Every school has their bullies, and when you're a kid you wish you had the power to fight them and protect other people - and yourself."

The frustratingly untitled film will see its UK release on July 4 2012 and also stars the gorgeous Emma Stone and Mr. Nice Rhys Ifans and written by award winning screen writer James Vanderbilt.
