APC’s Award Winning Spy Thriller OPERATION BUFFALO Lands On Netflix This February And Also Heads To RTBF Belgium

Operation Buffalo is written by renowned Australian writer/director Peter Duncan (Rake) and produced by Porchlight Films’ Vincent Sheehan (The Kettering Incident, Animal Kingdom, Kiki & Kitty) and Tanya Phegan, who co-created the series with Duncan.

Previous deals for the title include Acorn TV in the UK and Eire, UPC in Switzerland; RTP in Portugal, NRK TV in Norway and Viasat World for Central and Eastern European territories.

Boutique co-producer and distributor About Premium Content (APC) has secured a key deal for its award-winning Australian spy thriller Operation Buffalo to stream on Netflix across the APAC region, excluding China. The drama series will be available on the streaming service from February 28^th. In addition, Operation Buffalo is also heading to RTBF in Belgium.

APC participated in the financing of the project and holds worldwide distribution rights. The series was made with major production investment from Screen Australia in association with the ABC and Create NSW, and with support from the South Australian Film Corporation. Operation Buffalo successfully aired on ABC Australia in 2020.

The six-part series turns the secretive events and frightening truths behind British atomic testing in the 1950’s into a blend of espionage thriller and political satire set in the outback of South Australia. The show follows Major Leo Carmichael (Ewen Leslie), an Australian Army Engineer and WWII hero tasked with keeping the top-secret nuclear base running smoothly. But testing the most dangerous weapon in the world is no walk in the park with a Commanding Officer (James Cromwell) who is unfit for the job; a new meteorologist (Jessica de Gouw) who is starting to ask too many questions; a rapist loose on the camp; a slew of leaks in the press and the Government watching their every move! And as it turns out, the land of Maralinga may not be as uninhabited as it seems…
