Aptitude Films’ Marc Zammit Is Proud To Announce UK Release Of Debut Film HOMELESS ASHES In Selected EVERYMAN Cinemas

05 February 2020

The remarkable award-winning British independent feature film HOMELESS ASHES which was completed after four years of passionate crowd-funding by young London-born actor Marc Zammit - also making his directorial debut - shines a light on homelessness and gives less fortunate people a voice.

From its UK premiere at Raindance last year, and all along its Festival journey, the film has garnered not only awards, but has been heaped with praise.

Marc Zammit’s Aptitude Films - like so many independent production companies today - has gone its own way in terms of showing the film and within days of announcing their first few nationwide screenings at Everyman Cinemas on social media – they were all SOLD OUT.  Some have had to move the film to a bigger screen to satisfy demand.  And there are many more in the pipeline…..

Zammit is an extraordinary young man. He began his acting career at the age of 15, and appeared in many high profile UK TV dramas such as Law and Order, and Silent Witness, got bitten by the filmmaking bug, and created Aptitude Films to build his knowledge and experience in making films.  His humble beginnings belie tenacity and a passion for telling stories, and this story touched him deeply. “I witnessed homelessness on a massive scale growing up in London.  None of us are far from it; it could touch any one of us at any time.  Each person living homeless has a story and deserves to be heard. They are homeless but not invisible.  I met so many amazing people living on the streets whilst researching this film. It is dedicated to them,” explains Marc.

Zammit gathered an international cast of performers to tell the story of Frankie, a young boy (played by Hector Bateman- Harden) who runs away from an abusive home and grows up trying to survive on the streets (adult Frankie is played by Marc Zammit). After fleeing from his parents Stuart (Dean Maskell) and Abbie (Angela Dixon), he somehow survives by making honest friends in Gavin (Jason Flemyng) and Chico (US actor Lew Temple – The Walking Dead), and, against all the odds is reunited with childhood friend Nicole (Jamey May). But living on the streets takes its toll and not everyone survives. US actress and singer Maria Howell (The Vampire Diaries) also stars.
