Arrow hero Stephen Amell explains why he refused Fifty Shades of Grey role

20 June 2013

With a big screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey coming our way, Arrow star Stephen Amell has explained his decision not to feature in the film as Christian Grey.

Speaking to Access Hollywood Amell admitted "I didn't find his character to be totally redeeming, and I actually didn't find him to be that interesting."

Speaking about the content of the EL James novel he added "This is not a criticism on this particular piece of literature. This is simply, you know, I like to play roles that I find interesting. Jason on Hung was a prostitute, but he was kind of an interesting prostitute! Nothing about Christian Grey really spoke to me."

Yesterday it came to light that Sam Taylor-Johnson has signed up to direct the big-screen adaptation, while the search continues for the lead roles.
