Channel Primate Instincts to Survive an Apocalyptic World as a Hyper-Intelligent Ape in this New First-Person Action Adventure VR Game

The FoxNext VR Studio today announced the availability of Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR on PlayStation®VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive. Set in a never-before-seen Planet of the Apes world, Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR is a full-on first-person action-adventure VR game produced in partnership with Imaginati Studios.

You are an ape with advanced intelligence, captured and held prisoner in a heavily guarded scientific facility as mankind desperately searches for a cure to the Simian Flu, which has wiped out most of humanity. You must climb, jump, arm yourself, and fight your way through the chaos of an apocalyptical world to escape with fellow Apes and return home at the crossroads of two species’ destinies.

“There’s power in being able to feel both the physical aspects and emotional conscience of an Ape with advanced intelligence. Players will move like an ape while experiencing first-hand, the discrimination and reprehensible treatment of the Apes in this universe,” said Brendan Handler, SVP & GM, FoxNext VR Studio. “Bringing this level of immersive gameplay to the long legacy of what Fox does best – compelling storytelling – is at the core what FoxNext VR Studios delivers to VR gamers.”

Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR introduces an innovative set of motion mechanics in VR. For the first time, players are able to feel the strength and vigour of an Ape with every movement, from running, climbing and moving to cover, as they confront humans in an effort to survive. Moving as an Ape, players will come into contact with other survivors, humans and fellow Apes alike, who have spent the last five years navigating a global catastrophe, as the world they knew came crashing down.

The immersive environment is further amplified with premium surround sound, developed in partnership with DTS for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. This creative effort brings exceptional audio expertise to the Apes universe and is a critical priority for the VR Studio. The natural collaboration with DTS uniquely intensifies the richness of the game.

“The Crisis on The Planet of the Apes storyline becomes even more compelling as players experience immersive audio from DTS. It heightens the senses and brings you even deeper into the story,” said Geir Skaaden, EVP, Chief Production and Services Officer, Xperi Corp.

Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR is now available on PlayStation®VR for £11.99, Oculus Rift for £10.99, and HTC Vive for £11.39.
