Ben Foster and Chris O’Dowd nab key roles in Stephen Frears’s Lance Armstrong biopic

15 October 2013

With a Lance Armstrong biopic in the works with filmmaker Stephen Frears at the helm, it has emerged that Ben Foster and Chris O'Dowd have nabbed key roles in the Working Title film.

Deadline report that Foster will portray the disgraced cyclist and O'Dowd will play journalist David Walsh while Breaking Bad alumni Jesse Plemons will also have a key role alongside French actor Guillaume Canet.

Written by Trance's John Hodge, the untitled film is based on Walsh's book Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong and the film centres around Armstrong's rise during the 1990's and early 2000's and his battle with cancer. It also follows Walsh's role in exposing Armstrong's doping secret.

O'Dowd returns to cinemas with John Michael McDonagh's Calvary alongside Brendan Gleeson on November 1 whilst Foster returns to cinemas alongside Daniel Radcliffe in John Krokidas's Kill Your Darlings on December 6.
