Beth Tweddle joins forces with Mountain Warehouse for Charity Challenge

29 June 2015

Mountain Warehouse, the UK’s largest outdoor retailer, has teamed up with three-time Olympic gymnast, Beth Tweddle, to become the ambassador for this year’s instalment of the Charity Challenge.

The initiative, which encourages members of the public to set themselves daring outdoor challenges for charity returns for its third year with a prize fund of £10,000.

This year, as well as the impressive £10,000 prize fund, Mountain Warehouse is offering the opportunity of a lifetime to join in one of Beth Tweddle’s bucket list challenges. During her time as an Olympic athlete, adrenaline-fuelled activities were completely off limits to Beth. Now, having retired from professional gymnastics, Beth is looking to tick each exhilarating challenge, including bungee jumping, skydiving and water skiing, off her list.

To take part in the Charity Challenge entrants need to visit and provide details, and why they have chosen their charity, alongside a photo or video to represent their challenge. All entrants will have their own page to share and encourage their friends and family to vote. Any challenges that have already been completed in 2015 can be entered in this year’s competition, as well as any future endeavours taking place this year.

Last year’s challenge attracted more than 400 outdoor enthusiasts in the name of charity and amassed more than 60,000 social media shares. The winning entrant, Tracey Ames, took on the terrifying heights of Snowdonia’s Big Dipper Zip line, in aid of the Greyhound Gap charity.

Beth Tweddle said, “I’m thrilled to be part of such an exciting initiative. The Charity Challenge is a brilliant platform to showcase people undertaking incredible outdoor activities whilst raising funds for amazing causes. I can’t wait to meet the winner and embark on one of my bucket list activities with them!”

Mark Neale, founder of Mountain Warehouse commented, “It’s fantastic to have Beth on board as our ambassador for this year’s Charity Challenge. Mountain Warehouse is dedicated to supporting charities across the country and we hope that 2015 will see more entrants than ever before”.

Entry is now open and will close on the 17th of August 2015. The winner will be based on public voting over two rounds.  The final winner will be announced in October.
