Billy Joel recovering from operation

25 November 2010

Multi Grammy award winner and music icon for over 30 years, Billy Joel is recovering from a double hip replacement to correct a congenital condition. There is no comment on when he would return to work.

The "Angry Young Man" has recently been promoting a documentary film "The Last Play at Shea" which is centered on his last concerts played there in 2008 before the historical baseball stadium was demolished.

The film uses concerts to tell the story about the stadium and its important influence on all of New York since 1923. Many legendary musical acts graced the diamond field including The Beatles, Tony Bennett and Garth Brooks.

The film debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26 2010 then premiered on August 21, 2010 at Citi Field, Shea Stadium's successor in front of around 30,000 moviegoers.

It opened country wide (USA) 21 October 2010.

Being an ex New Yorker born and bred I am very much looking forward to the DVD ... should be some fabulous music, great baseball footage, and fascinating history.

Get well soon Billy!
