Brad Bird directing 1952 not Star Wars: Episode VII
So another one bites the dust, Brad Bird who directed the smash hit Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and various films with Disney has denied reports that he is involved in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the filmmaker answered a question about his upcoming project stating "A science fiction film. Not Star Wars."
When questioned further by a fan who said "You're not doing EP7? Why not? You're perfect for it!" Bird responded "Thanks, but the science fiction film I AM doing is gonna be cool."
While that will surely disappoint some fans, Bird revealed that the film he's set to direct is 1952 adding "I'm not slamming Star Wars. I'm just doing 1952, that said, Michael Arndt is a fantastic writer and Kathy Kennedy is a brilliant producer.
I will be first in line to see the new Star Wars."
Bird's 1952 is rumoured to star George Clooney. So while the new Star Wars instalment is in pre production it will hit cinemas in 2015.
