10 November 2011

Following the departure of Tower Heist director Brett Ratner's as co-producer from the Oscars, Hollywood producer Brian Grazer has filled the void.

Grazer who is one of the main heads behind production company Imagine and is a regular collaborator with film making supremo Ron Howard was rumoured to be Ratner's replacement almost immediately after the Rush Hour franchise director left.

Grazer has a long list of credits and an Oscar under his belt, and will team with veteran Don Mischer and said of the pairing "It's very gratifying to be part of a show that honours excellence in the medium to which I have devoted so much of my career, Don is a legend, and I am excited to work with him."

While Academy president Tom Sherak said in a statement picked up by the Hollywood Reporter "Brian Grazer is a renowned filmmaker who over the past 25 years has produced a diverse and extraordinary body of work, he will certainly bring his tremendous talent, creativity and relationships to the Oscars."

Grazer's first job will be to find a replacement for the host job after the departure of Ratner's Tower Heist star Eddie Murphy.
