Director Asa Bailey helped kick off the Coastline Film Festival at the weekend (Friday 13 Nov) with the world premiere of his new film Cream.
The writer and director, who hails from North Wales, hit the red carpet to launch the kitchen sink comedy-drama, which earned an opening night slot at the festival.
Cream is set in the picturesque seaside town of Llandudno and stars Bruce Jones and Jack Marsden, playing two men later in life who find friendship and support in each other.
Jones is retired Sgt. Major Ron Harris who is begrudgingly cared for by Marsden’s Garry, an out-of-work man in his fifties. In order to keep his social housing benefits, Garry must continue his voluntary role, but he grows tired of it and wants out. The result is Garry sleeping rough on the streets and Ron being cared for by Becky (Sophie Anderson), a qualified care worker, who happens to moonlight as a thief.
The film has already received acclaim from legendary director, Ken Loach: “It is great to see Bruce and Jack on such good form, they both perform with such sincerity.”
