Cameron scores big at the Golden Globes

18 January 2010

James Cameron is king of the world again after scooping the Best Director and Best Film awards at the Golden Globes.

Sci-fi epic Avatar now looks set for Oscar glory after it picked up the Best Motion Picture (drama) prize at this year's Golden Globes ceremony. While Cameron was mocked for his 'I am the king of the world' Titanic Oscar Speech in 1998, he was much more reserved this time around - suggesting that his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow deserved the best director award for Hurt Locker.

Robert Downey Jr was named Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) for Sherlock Holmes, while Jeff Bridges walked away with the Best Actor (drama) prize. Sandra Bullock won best dramatic actress for her role in The Blind Side, with Meryl Streep named Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) for culinary comedy Julie.

Inglourious Basterds' Christopher Waltz and Precious' Mo'Nique were named Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.

Pixar's Up won the best Best Animated Feature Film trophy, while Hangover was named best Best Film in the comedy or musical category.
