Carey Mulligan and Nicolas Winding Refn talk Drive as Red Band Trailer is Released

22 July 2011

Carey Mulligan took part in a panel discussion about her latest film, Drive at Comic Con 2011 yesterday in San Diego,.

The 26-year-old English actress wore a silk mink, tangerine and navy color block cut out dress from Roksanda Ilincic's Resort 2012 collection to the event, which also featured director Nicolas Winding Refn and Carey's co-star, Ron Perlman.

Sadly Ryan Gosling wasn't there to promote the film. He was over in New York with Emma Stone and Steve Carell at the Crazy, Stupid, Love press junket.

Also yesterday, the red band trailer for the film was released. It teases how brutal Ryan Gosling can be in his lead role as a Hollywood stunt driver by day and a getaway driver by night.

Director Refn recalled his first meeting with Gosling. "I was completely out of it after taking American drugs and couldn't really talk to him properly when I met him at his restaurant," he said. "I eventually asked him to drive me home because I couldn't face getting a cab."

"We got into the car to drive to Santa Monica, turned on the radio and it was Reo Speedwagon playing 'Can't Fight This Feeling'! I started singing along to it, badly, and also crying," he continued. "Then I just screamed, 'I got it! I know what 'Drive' is! It's a man who drives around at night listening to pop music and that's his emotional release!' "

Drive will be released in Cinemas on September 23rd.
