Carrie matriarch Julianne Moore cast in Lisa Genova’s Still Alice

06 November 2013

She'll soon be seen as matriarch Margaret White in Kimberly Peirce's Carrie and word is that Hollywood Walk of Famer Julianne Moore has been cast in Still Alice.

Variety reports that Moore will star as a woman with early onset Alzheimer's disease in the film that is based on Harvard neuroscientist Lisa Genova's debut novel, with The Last of Robin Hood's Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland on board to direct.

Moore character is Alice Howland, a 50-year-old Harvard psychology professor at the height of her career who begins to notice lapses in her memory.

With a diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's, the fiercely independent woman must come to terms with her diagnosis and the ways in which it will change her life.

As well as the aforementioned Carrie remake, Moore will also be seen in the final parts of The Hunger Games saga in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 as President Alma Coin and teams with Jeff Bridges in Seventh Son as Mother Malkin.
