04 November 2010

Kevin Spacey maybe best known for his role in American Beauty but yesterday the British Empire accepted him as one of their own.

Spacey who is also the artistic Director for the Old Vic Theatre, was awarded the CBE for services to drama by none other than Prince Charles, on accepting his award Spacey (51) said

"I am so honoured to live and work in Britain on behalf of the Old Vic Theatre."

Spacey has worked at the Old Vic since 2004 and has acted in and directed a series of well-received plays at the theatre which will be holding it's annual 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala, compared by Monty Python legend John Cleese early next year.

The Old Vic receives no Goverment funding and so created the fundraiser seven years ago which sees actors, writers and directors create, rehearse and present six short new plays in a day and will include stars such as Sienna Miller and Kelly Brook.
