Catholic Officials angered by Julia Roberts

18 August 2010

'Eat, Pray, Love' the new film by 'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy and starring Hollywood sweetheart Julia Roberts has angered US Catholic Officials.

According to reports, the Catholic Officials in Washington were outraged that Roberts' character in 'Eat Pray Love' chose to spend time in Rome for its fine cuisine only and have urged their followers to avoid the "troubling" romantic comedy.

The review of the film where they classified it an 'L' reads "Though she seemingly hits every restaurant in town, she gives the churches a pass, the implication being that she knows better than to look to Catholicism for insight."

Instead, Roberts' character spends time in India for the 'Pray' section of the film.

To add insult to injury, the actress recently told Elle magazine that she is a "practising Hindu" following the making of the film.

'Eat, Pray, Love' arrives in the UK next month.
