Change Things up on Date Night With These Great Broadway Shows
Oh, the classic date night. You go to dinner, enjoy a movie, maybe take a late-night stroll in the park, and then go home. While all of this is lovely, it is oh-so-predictable, and yes, boring. Whether you are on a first date with someone you met online, a repeat date with someone you are getting serious with or you're just trying to break away from the kids for some alone time, dating should be exciting.
Live theatre is a much better alternative to the movies. You will still be entertained, but the experience is much more memorable, and you have more chances to connect with each other. Even if you aren't planning on being in New York anytime soon, you can keep an eye out for some of these great date-night musicals to go on tour.
'First Date'
Okay, the title pretty much gives away that this show makes for a good date-night event. The plot is simple: An uptight boy is set up on a blind date with a laid-back girl. Throughout the musical, the two characters are taken on an entertaining and hilarious journey that includes all the interesting aspects of modern dating. The show includes some major star power, too: It stars Zachary Levi from "Chuck" and Krysta Rodriguez from "Smash" in the lead roles. As you enjoy the show, you will be able to relate to the characters, and it may even remind you why you never want to go on a first date again.

You have a lot of choices when it comes to Broadway tickets. However, "The Book of Mormon" may be the best use of your hard-earned dollars. For starters, it has won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Entertainment Weekly thinks this show is what every Broadway musical should be: inspiring, gutsy and downright hilarious. The story of the musical is simple: Two Mormon boys head out on a mission, and what they encounter is anything but what they expected. They will be taken through a wild journey that definitely pushes them (and the audience at times) out of their comfort zones. When you go on a date, having fun together should always be a top priority. With "The Book of Mormon," you will definitely accomplish this goal.
'Rock of Ages'
This musical-turned-movie is back on the Broadway stage. It's a classic romance, perfect for any date night. The story is set in 1987, when an innocent girl heads to L.A. to make her dreams of fame and fortune come true. Of course, she meets a boy, and what ensues is slightly predictable but still very entertaining. The music alone is reason enough to see "Rock of Ages." The familiar songs, like "We Built This City" and "Dont Stop Believin'," will have you dancing in your seat, and the love story will have you rooting for the characters to find their happy ending. After seeing this show, you and your date will feel the urge to fight for your own love, and maybe even break into a song while doing it.
