Chris Evans replaces James Franco in Ariel Vromen’s The Iceman

Captain America: The First Avenger hero Chris Evans is set to step in to replace Spider-Man trilogy star James Franco in the upcoming Ariel Vromen directed The Iceman.

The film is the true story of Richard Kuklinski, the notorious contract killer and family man and the Milk actor pulled out due to a disagreement over "key contractual issues", but now Evans has stepped in to take the role as Kuklinski's mentor.

Man of Steel's General Zod actor Michael Shannon will portray Kuklinski who was a contract killer for the Mafia.

The biopic is set for release in 2013 and features Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ray Liotta and David Schwimmer.

Evans will next be seen reprising his role of Steve Rogers aka Captain America in Joss Whedon's ultimate superhero team up The Avengers which hits cinemas on April 27.
