COMPETING FOR HIS LIFE, FIGHTING FOR HIS MIND: Studio Soho Distribution Unveil The Poster And Trailer For Cassius Corrigan’s HURACÁN
Studio Soho Distribution are delighted to present HURACÁN, a powerful and stirring psychological thriller coming to cinemas October 23.
For the brutal world of Mixed Martial Arts fighting, only the toughest (both physically and mentally) survive. HURACÁN follows Alonso Santos (Cassius Corrigan) as he struggles to make it as a professional in the MMA sphere. As he lands punches and kicks inside the ring, outside he too battles – trying to overcome his Dissociative Identity Disorder which manifests itself in his fearsomely aggressive alternate personality, Huracán. With help from his therapist, Isabella, played by Yara Martinez (True Detective, Jane The Virgin), Alonso prepares for the biggest fight of his life, knowing he must master himself before he can defeat his opponent.
HURACÁN puts us right in the middle of the cage, in the heart of the action, as we experience the gladiatorial fights, awash with blood and sweat. Helping to bring this rawness to the screen are MMA heavyweights including Grégory "Cheetah" Choplin who plays Alonso’s trainer (a former Middleweight and Super Middleweight Muay Thai World Champion kickboxer) and Jorge Masvidal (himself the winner of UFC’s inaugural BMF (Baddest Mother Fucker) title) as our hero’s opponent. With real-life fighters and consultants on the film, HURACÁN boasts a verité aesthetic and intensity in its drama.
Written, produced, and directed by Cassius Corrigan, HURACÁN highlights a fresh and exciting new voice in cinema. Cassius was recently handpicked by Ron Howard to be a part of the prestigious ‘Imagine Impact’ program, made up of the most promising new filmmakers in the world. Within the program he is developing a TV series set in the world of MMA fighting, with Entourage creator Doug Ellin as his mentor
HURACÁN will spotlight this exciting emerging filmmaker when it comes to cinemas on Friday 23rd October.

HURACÁN WILL BE RELEASING IN CINEMAS FROM OCTOBER 23
About Studio Soho Distribution
Studio Soho Distribution (SSD) is a boutique film releasing company based in Portland Mews, Soho, offering
Theatrical, Home Entertainment and Television Sales for Independent Feature Films, produced in the UK and Internationally. The company utilises the country’s premium DVD sales team and works with The DDA Group to bring personalised marketing campaigns across its slate. SSD’s first feature, 'Mum’s List', was released in November 2016 across 120 screens, launched at number 1 on Amazon, number 3 in the new releases’ DVD chart for all retailers, and subsequently sold to both Sky and BBC.
Originally set up to release its own films in the UK, SSD opened its doors in 2017 to other Producers looking
to utilise part or all of SSD’s distribution infrastructure in place of a conventional distribution deal. This resulted in a promotional campaign and DVD release of Jane Gull’s multi-award-winning film, 'My Feral Heart' in the U.K and the release of Leanne Welham’s ground-breaking BAFTA nominated ‘Pili', which won the Audience Award and a special Jury mention at the 2017 Dinard Film Festival.
SSD have since gone on to theatrically release both James Dearden’s 'Surviving Christmas with the Relatives' on wide release and the multi-award-winning film 'Undocument'. As Covid-19 hit the UK in March 2020, SSD was about to release 3 films into cinemas. Changing strategy to focus on releasing digitally, SSD released SXSW 2020 film ‘Come As You Are’, a true story about three young men with disabilities who hit the road on a quest to lose their virginity, on Premium VOD across all major platforms. Obtaining 4 and 5 star reviews across the board and lead film of the week in major newspapers, it went on to successfully release on download to own, TVOD and DVD. Other releases were: the officially sanctioned documentary, ‘Masterati – 100 Years Against All Odds’, actor Alex Pettyfer’s directorial debut dark thriller, ‘Back Roads’ and multi award winning immigration drama, ‘Undocument’.
After attending ‘virtual Cannes 2020’, SSD picked up official In Competition title, ‘Here We Are’ where a father takes his autistic adult son on an unplanned road trip after he refuses to see him sent into a community home, and SXSW 2020 film, ‘The Surrogate’, a film about a young woman surrogate facing an impossible decision to decide the destiny of the baby she is carrying. SSD plan to release both titles in early 2021 off the back of 2 top UK film festivals. In Q4 2020 SSD will be releasing India’s Oscar nominee director Ashvin Kumar’s Kashmir set drama, ‘No Fathers in Kashmir’.
Studio Soho is fast developing a strong reputation for releasing films with important social messages, helping them to receive the attention they deserve. Through innovative and specialised marketing campaigns and an abundance of care, a wide range of important films are reaching their audience.
In early 2020 SSD was acquired by Film Soho and are now expanding their release capabilities and infrastructure further to include Talent lead Co-Productions, Post Production and International Sales.
