Could Mission: Impossible’s Tom Cruise be leading The Mummy reboot for Universal Pictures?

25 November 2015

Universal Pictures have been trying to get a shared universe for their classic monsters, and it looks as though it may be one step closer to reality with word that Hollywood legend Tom Cruise will take the lead in the long-gestating reboot of The Mummy franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter report that The Mummy will team Cruise with director Alex Kurtzman and Doctor Strange scribe Jon Spaihts, and reports suggest that the reboot will feature a female monster.

Cruise has a busy 2016 ahead; he’s working on the sequel to Jack Reacher entitled Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and a sequel to Top Gun as well as the announced sixth instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

The Mummy will be the jumping off point to a shared universe of monster universe with Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man and The Invisible Man.
