Dane DeHaan and Rooney Mara unite for Diesel Schwarze’s period musical Ziggy

Sought after acting talent Dane DeHaan, who returns to cinemas next month with Life After Beth will unite with Rooney Mara for the musical Ziggy for filmmaker Diesel Schwarze.

The period musical will be set in the 1920's and centre around DeHaan's hunchback who falls for the fiancée of a powerful media mogul the role that Mara has been cast in.

Ziggy charts his rise to the spotlight and subsequent fall from grace.

Schwarze is Baz Luhrmann protégé and is working with Mara, DeHaan and music producer Alex Da Kid on the contemporary music score and soundtrack.

Dehaan will next be seen in the aforementioned Life After Beth alongside Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick and John C. Reilly, and Mara returns to cinemas with Stephen Daldry's Trash alongside Martin Sheen on January 30th as well as an untitled Terrence Malick project, Todd Haynes's Carol and Joe Wright's Pan.

Ziggy doesn't have a release date yet.
