Daniel Day-Lewis shortlisted to play Moriarty

24 June 2010

Prolific character actor Daniel Day-Lewis is reported to be in the running to do battle with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in the follow up to the hugely successful 'Sherlock Holmes'.

With work on the Sherlock Holmes sequel script now well underway with director Guy Ritchie tinkering with it as he gets ready to shoot the thing and get it into cinemas for December 2011, speculation is rife with who will play Sherlock Holmes' nemesis Moriarty, actors including Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Gary Oldman and Sean Penn are also on the list with Daniel Day-Lewis.

However, Daniel isn't known for working on blockbusters, but did make a wonderful villain in 'Gangs of New York' and 'There Will Be Blood' so watch this space for more news on the subject.
