Daniel Radcliffe reunites with James Watkins for Sebastian Coe biopic Gold

30 October 2013

He'll soon be seen as poet Allen Ginsberg in John Krokidas's Kill Your Darlings and word is that Daniel Radcliffe has nabbed the role of Sebastian Coe in the forthcoming biopic Gold.

Screen Daily reports that it will mark a reunion between Radcliffe and his The Woman in Black director James Watkins to play the four-time Olympic gold medallist.

The drama will follow Lord Coe in the years leading up to the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, and specifically his rivalry with fellow athlete Steve Ovett.

Written by Slumdog Millionaire's Simon Beaufoy and How To Train Your Dragon's Will Davies, Gold is based on the book The Perfect Distance by former Times athletics correspondent Pat Butcher.

Gold is set to start shooting in April in locations in the UK and Russia.

The aforementioned Kill Your Darlings opens in UK cinemas on December 6 and features Elizabeth Olsen, Michael C. Hall, Dane DeHaan, Ben Foster, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jack Huston, David Cross and Kyra Sedgwick.
