Dark Knight trilogy star Christian Bale won’t reprise his Batman role for Justice League

02 July 2013

While he starred as Bruce Wayne aka Batman in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, Christian Bale has effectively ruled out playing Batman in a Justice League big screen outing.

It was reported earlier this year that Bale was was in talks to join the DC Comics ensemble film, although the speculation was denied by writer David S Goyer and speaking to
Entertainment Weekly, Bale said that he has no intention of reprising his role in any future films explaining "We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three Batman films, that's enough. Let's not get greedy.

Chris always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying, 'We're about to make the third'. We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well."

Bale returns to cinemas with Scott Cooper's thriller Out of the Furnace alongside Woody Harrelson and has Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups and David O. Russell's American Hustle in post production.
