David Ayer tipped for Director’s chair of DC Comics adaptation of the Suicide Squad

20 September 2014

DC Comics and Warner Bros. are reportedly moving forward on their long-rumoured Suicide Squad adaptation and word is that the top choice for the Director's chair is Training Day and Fury filmmaker David Ayer.

Variety report that the film is yet to be officially announced, but it is thought that it is one of several mystery DC films scheduled for release up until 2020.

In DC Comics lore the Suicide Squad are a group of villains and criminals forced by the US government into service as a disposable black ops team which is led by the amoral government operative Dr Amanda Waller.

The modern incarnation of the Suicide Squad was created in 1987 by John Ostrander.

The aforementioned Fury starring Brad Pitt and Logan Lerman will close the 58th BFI London Film Festival on October 19.
