Deadpool and Terminator Filmmaker Tim Miller Developing KITTY PRYDE aka Shadowcat Lead Spinoff at 20th Century Fox

09 January 2018

Whilst he is developing a sixth entry into the Terminator franchise, it has been announced that Deadpool filmmaker Tim Miller is developing an X-Men spinoff centred on the popular character of Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat!

In Marvel Comics lore Pryde is best known by the codename Shadowcat, but also has gone by the aliases of Ariel, Sprite and even the mantle of Star-Lord over the years, Pryde is a mutant with the ability to “phase” or become intangible, which allows her (and anything she’s touching) to pass through solid objects, disrupt electromagnetic fields, and levitate.

Famously Pryde has been portrayed on the big screen by Sumela Kay in X-Men, Katie Stewart in X2 and Ellen Page in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It is expected that this first outing for Kitty Pryde will be a solo outing but there are a lot of story arcs to mine for future films.

No word yet on who will play Kitty Pryde, or if Ellen Page will return to the role, but judging by the younger X-Men cast that will be seen in Simon Kinberg‘s X-Men: Dark Phoenix, it would make sense that the role is recast to accommodate the younger narrative.

As well as the sixth Terminator film, Miller is also producing a Sonic the Hedgehog film for Paramount.
